My Creative Space: Kids Aprons

My creative space has cleared up a bit with the completion of seven out of ten aprons that I'm donating to my daughter's class. These seven are made from a strong off-white cotton canvas; the other three will be made from a nice tropical print canvas.

The fabulous thing about these aprons is that they are easily adjustable as the neck strap and ties are one continuous piece that run through the apron.

I would have loved to be the mastermind behind that idea, but I wasn't. Katelyn's teacher suggested they be sewn that way - and it was a great idea. These aprons are designed to fit ages 3-6. But they will fit kids as old as 8 or 9.

Another great thing about these aprons is the material. It is literally a blank canvas. More to come on that. I plan to make more of these aprons to put up in the etsy shop. But first, to work on Father's Day gifts. Don't worry, you'll see what they are as soon as they're finished.

What are you doing/giving for Father's Day?

  4. that definitely is a great idea for the adjustability of the aprons!! as a teacher I'm just imagining how different those aprons will look after a day of mad painting, lovely and all splattered in a rainbow of colours, just like artist' aprons should be!

  5. Yes they'll look brilliant with some good paint splats on them! My Dad's getting one of my new mugs. Need to post it round the world first though!

  6. I'm a terrible gift giver, I really am. Beyond hand made cards from the kids, I had no clue what we were going to give James for Father's Day. That is, until my sister suggested BBQ aprons in the same fabric. And we'll have the kids paint designs or whatever on the aprons. Brilliant! So she bought the fabric and this weekend I'm going to sew up one for James and one for her husband. And she'll coordinate the kids' painting while the husbands and I are at work. I really hope we can pull it off so that they are all ready for Father's Day.

  7. Drea - Perhaps your dad enjoys toast, could I interest you in mango jam? *wink wink* Just kidding. Sort of.

Amanda - Good thing we have another week, ay? I'll be starting tomorrow.

Angelina and Cotton - Thank you! I have three more to go for the class then I will make more for the etsy shop and the kids at home.

Megan - Absolutely! But first, I believe Katelyn's teacher will be incorporating a lesson into the initial decorating of the aprons.

Katy - Lucky dad! I hope it gets there in time.
